Hooper Golf Course, a Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek designed 9-hole public course, is one of the hidden golf gems of North America. Set in the heart of beautiful Walpole, NH, Hooper GC is the recipient of praise from an array of golf architects, magazines, and authors and recently ranked 13th best stand-a-lone 9-hole golf course in the world (Golf Magazine, Sept. 2020).

Summary: The Pro Shop Manager (PSM) will operate as an independent contractor and will be the face of the Club, offering a high degree of member and player engagement. This ability should be rooted from a sincere desire to develop and maintain a strong and positive experience for each golfer and patron at the Hooper Golf Course. This position roughly covers seven months generally from April through October but in exceptionally warm Falls may extend into November. The PSM reports to the President and the Executive Committee of the Hooper Golf Properties, LLC. PGA or LPGA Membership is encouraged but not required.

Primary Responsibilities/Duties:

  1. Exceptional Customer Service: Provides members and players with a rewarding golf experience, and maintains a warm, welcoming demeanor. This role requires a leader who recognizes the value of innovative, creative golf programming and the need to grow the game of golf.
  2. PSM shall work closely with the Course Superintendent and Greens Committee to ensure all rules and club policies are managed and maintained.
  3. PSM shall interact with members and guests to create an optimal membership/golf experience by providing superior customer service, including but not limited to pairing up members, guests, public players, running scrambles/outings for members and non-members.
  4. PSM and his/her staff shall ensure all members, guests and public players are aware of club rules, policies, and procedures.
  5. PSM shall oversee (with the assistance of the Tournament committee) golf Tournaments, Outings, Junior Summer Camps and Leagues: PSM shall be active in promoting, attracting, scheduling and fully executing these activities.  The PSM is responsible for coordinating with the various functions of the course to ensure that each event is a success.
  6. PSM shall be responsible for implementation, monitoring, and training of staff on the proper use of the Tee Time System.
  7. PSM shall make certain that Tee times are blocked in advance for all Tournaments, leagues and/or outings for the good of the club.
  8. Daily Golf Operations: Includes but not limited to training staff, opening and closing the Pro Shop, and checking in members and public players, ordering of products, answering the phone, managing the tee sheet and Point of Sales system (POS), managing Pro Shop staff and serving as point of contact/organizer for golf related events taking place, manage and ensure accuracy of cash receipts and accounts receivable.
  9. PSM and/or his staff shall be responsible to collect Memberships and all Green Fees and Cart Rental Fees entering them in a Point of Sale system of their choice ensuring a thorough accounting for Hooper Golf Club’s records.
  10. PSM and/or his staff shall be responsible to secure all carts in the designated area, ensure all carts are maintained for cleanliness, and ensure all carts are fully gassed and are ready for use by HGC Members and Guests each day
  11. PSM shall work with the Treasurer and Financial committee on all related financial aspects.
  12. PSM will operate the Pro Shop and be responsible for purchasing and selling all items in the Pro Shop – including food and beverages and golf hard goods. All profits will remain with the PSM.
  13. PSM will cooperate and coordinate with the marketing committee to enhance Hooper’s social media presence and will develop an email listing of all customers and use this in an appropriate fashion to advertise events at Hooper.
  14. PSM will coordinate with the Watkins Tavern in expanding cooperative events.

Staff and Coverage

Pro Shop Staff employees will be hired and paid by the PSM and shall not be deemed to be employees of HGC. HGC agrees to subsidize the Pro Shop staffing from April 1st through October 30th of the golfing season (possibly longer or shorter depending on the weather and length of the golf season).  The subsidy paid by HGC will provide the PSM the prorated sum of $1,500 per month. (These funds paid to PSM will be included on the year-end Form-1099 to be provided to the PSM).

 

Suggested Compensation Package

 

* Contract $30K per season

*$1,500/month stipend during golf season to hire support staffing (capped at $10,500).

* Profit from all Pro Shop sales.

* Teaching revenue

* Equipment repairs (e.g. re-gripping clubs, ordering clubs etc)

* Incentives as outlined below:

      5% of cart rental revenue

      10% revenue from new corporate outings brought to Hooper GC by PSM

      10% of revenue beyond $100K in total greens fees collected

      10% of revenue beyond $100K in total memberships
